Today we took the third leg of our 2 day Double Decker Bus tour. This one had some repeat stops that were on the other two tours but still had lots of new ones. The place we were looking for was another one of my food shows but this one is on TLC and is called DC Cupcakes. It’s located in Georgetown and is called Georgetown Cupcakes. They make LOTS of different kinds and there is a long line everyday. Today wasn’t too bad. We waited in line only about 15 minutes. It was well worth the wait!
The line
YAY, we made it inside!
Our goodies
From there we hopped back on the bus and decided to get off at the American History Museum. I had no idea this museum was so HUGE! It’s four stories and each level has quite a few separate galleries. The bottom level is a cafeteria and simulator rides so really we only had three levels but that took quite awhile.
I found a Julia Child exhibit!
Then we saw an exhibit honoring all the First Ladies and their gowns.
Martha Washington’s gown
The inaugural ball gowns
Mamie Eisenhower and Jacqueline Kennedy
Michelle Obama
The restored original flag. The picture is bad because a guard yelled, “NO PICTURES IN THIS GALLERY.”
Ralph Lauren funded a HUGE portion of the restoration.
And then, of course, all our wars
Actual pieces of the Berlin Wall
These are actual pieces of the columns from the 70th floor of the World Trade Center
Wall of Presidents
Could it be???
About halfway through the President Gallery we decided we were just too hungry and needed to find something to eat. We went down to the lower level cafeteria but it was 6:00 and they were closed. We figured we’d just have to come back another day and finish the museum. I knew the Old Post Office was now a food court so that’s where we headed.
We figured after our cupcake purchase we needed to have something healthy for dinner. A salad really hit the spot.
From there we headed to the Metro Station for the ride back. We got home tonight at about 9:00. Whew, LONG day. Tomorrow we’ll be at it again. SOOOOO much to see here!

It's a wonder you get through any museums knowing how Rod likes to read EVERY word on every display! He must be on total overload. Cupcakes look awesome!
