Only One Week Left

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I've posted. About all I can say is, the grandkids come over... we eat... they leave or sometimes they have a sleepover. LOL That's what the last two weeks have been.

Oh we did have a "little" incident with the toilet. Reilly (at least we think it was Reilly) used the toilet but the spring thingy was broken and the lever didn't go all the way up so the tank filled with water, then the bowl filled with water, then the bedroom filled with water and so on and so on. You get the picture. By the time we noticed it the water was flowing down the heater vent on the bedroom floor and on out below. Rod went outside to release the lever for the sewer and there was so much pressure that had built up that it burst a hole in the sewer hose. Ugggghhhh. What a mess. All this happened after dark, by the way. Thank goodness for Sham Wows and LOTS of extra towels. Needless to say we were at the RV dealer the next day for the toilet part and a new sewer hose.

Ashton's game was cancelled last Saturday so Michele picked me up and Ashton got a haircut. Boy, the haircut places for kids are pretty cool. Video games to play while they're getting their hair cut and even an indoor playground to play on while they wait.

There were even games for Reilly to play while we waited

All done

On Thursday we decided to go to Wendover. It's on the Utah/Nevada state line. Actually, it's in Nevada because it has casinos! Todd & Michele were supposed to go with us but they didn't have anybody to watch the kids so we had to go without them. It was only a 2 hour drive so we just made it a day trip. Between us we came back $300 richer. We also made it a booze run since prices are so high in Utah. We'll have to rent a storage place to put it in since we are going to Canada in a few weeks and we can't bring it across the border.

Wendover Will stands guard

There isn't much to guard

On the way there we passed the Great Salt Lake and stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I had wanted to see this but there really wasn't much to see. They will prepare the track for land speed records late in June so there was nobody but some motorcycles there and they were just looky lews like us. It's hard to describe what the salt flats feel like. I guess you could say it's like really, really thick hard packed salt but very soft in other places. LOL Very sparkly too.

Great Salt Lake. The white piles are salt waiting to be processed by the Morton Salt Company.

On Mother's Day Todd made some really good pollo asado with all the trimmings and Ashton and Reilly came inside long enough from riding their scooters to make a cake for Michele and I. They had a good time doing it and it turned out really yummy.

Great post Deb...We too went through the toilet fiasco with the grandkids...all girls at the time and tons of toilet paper...if you get my drift. We too felt the pain of sleep overs.

The same happened to us last year, only there were no kids involved. Chuck was rinsing out the tank with the valve shut! Safe travels.
