Well, we crossed the border on Sunday morning. Must be a good day to cross because there were only 3 vehicles ahead of us in line and only one line open. When it was our turn the guy asked Rod for our passports and nothing else. I got rid of all the fresh fruits and vegetables, drank up most of the liquor and made sure we had very little dairy. All he wanted to know was if we had any firearms, had ever been arrested for a felony and if we were carrying a large amount of cash. Easiest crossing ever!!
So, here we are in Alberta, Canada and headed for JB & Brenda’s house. They have a huge ranch in a tiny, little town called Dogpound. It’s a little bit north of Calgary out in the middle of nowhere.
JB met us at the freeway exit and we followed him the rest of the way to the ranch.
This is the driveway
We were met by their dog who LOVES to chase sticks and will bring them to you until you can’t resist those sad eyes anymore and have to give in and toss the stick for her over and over and over again. LOL, she even brings them right to our steps.
We had an excellent dinner of ribs, potatoes, salad and of course, a piece of Brenda’s famous frozen peanut butter pie. Man, was that ever YUMMY!!! That was followed by a nice campfire in the yard.
Yesterday JB and Brenda took us out to see the sites in their beautiful country. OMG, I was amazed at the scenery. It’s absolutely gorgeous here. First, JB had to spiffy up the truck.
Then it was on to Lake Louise
JB & Brenda at Lake Louise, sorry it’s blurry
Then it was off to Moraine Lake. This lake is still frozen in spots!
As we were driving around in this park we saw LOTS of wildlife. JB stopped the truck every time we saw something so we got some really good pictures.
Elk
The Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
This bear took off and ran across the road after posing for pictures
Female Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep
After seeing all this wildlife we drove back in Banff and had some lunch and then did a little walking in the town
Today we’re off to the museum in Drumheller so Rod can get his dinosaur fix. I’ll write more about that later.
